Winter Walking Challenge. I am not a winter person

Winter Walking Challenge. I am not a winter person. I don’t like the cold weather. I don’t ski. I don’t like putting layers of clothes on. So why am I challenging myself to walk outside every day during the winter season? I go back to December 2022 when I joined 100 Strong and Sexy (SAS) for Cycle 14, a health, wellness and lifestyle organization. I joined their 100-day walking challenge. I went out every day, despite the weather conditions, from December to March. I documented my challenge on my website Women Rising Above i.e. 100 SAS Cycle 14 (see bio for link). For Cycle 20, the last cycle, I am documenting my walking challenge again on my website. Walking in winter has been, and is, a challenge for me but a rewarding challenge not just physically but mentally. Did you know there are many benefits to walking in winter?

Appreciating my walk in nature. It's very refreshi

Appreciating my walk in nature. It's very refreshing whether it is cold, warm, rainy, or snowy. It's great to breathe in that fresh air. If you have a nature path near you or can drive to one, go for that walk. As you walk, take deep breaths, close your eyes, then when you open them look around, look at the trees, the leaves, the birds, the pond, river or lake if you have one. Slow your life down. Take it all in.

Walking in nature is something that has helped me, in addition to exercising, dancing, and music. Doing something by yourself, for yourself. So go for that walk by yourself, for yourself, take those deep breaths, close your eyes and then open them and observe the beauty of nature, the beauty of life. Know that you are not alone even if you’re walking alone. Know that you are not alone in dealing with life’s issues and problems. I am a Certified Life Coach.
