Empowering Women with Life Skills

Making changes in one’s life can be difficult; as I know from personal experience. When I was able to retire in 2018, I sought answers and guidance on what to do next in my life. I was retired but not tired. I recalled a women’s organization that I attended many years ago for career counselling called the Women’s Centre of York Region (WCYR). I visited WCYR again in 2018 and discovered a Making Changes program. I initially joined to figure out whether to volunteer, get a part-time job, or enroll in continuing education. I was so impressed by their in-depth program and how it made such a difference in my life, in my growth as a person, and my self-esteem that I became a Certified Life Skills Coach through George Brown College. I went from being a student to being a facilitator’s assistant with the WCYR’s Making Changes Program. I continue to be on a journey of learning, growing, and empowering not only for myself but also for women who want to develop the life skills to overcome difficulties in their lives. As such, I continued my education with the Coaching Institute and became a Certified Activation Method Life Coach through the Coaching Institute. I am also pursuing their Group Coach Certification.
